Bongaigaon Polytechnic (BP) journey was started in the year 1986 with three years of polytechnic/ diploma courses. at the time, the institute initiated only the Civil Engineering curriculum with 35 students. later, this college added various courses like Electrical Engineering and Automobile Engineering department also started.
The college located at the foothills of Nakkati Hills at village Barshan Gaon in Bongaigaon District in Assam.
